As per the FDNY, any item or material used for decorative purposes inside a building will need to be treated with flameproofing chemicals. While not an exhaustive list, some commonly treated items are wood, scenery, hangings, greenery, drapes, curtains, carpets, upholstery, fabrics, and textiles.

What places need to be flameproofed?

According to the FDNY, locations where the public gathers or buildings that are considered public gathering places need to be flameproofed. Again, while not an exhaustive list, typical locations include restaurants, bars, nightclubs, catering halls, theaters, department stores, etc. Locations such as houses of worship and museums may fall under different requirements.

What kind of chemicals are used in flameproofing treatments?

It is our recommendation that flameproofing procedures occur on-location at the business site. This helps save on expenses involved in having to remove and later reinstall treated items. However, if a customer requests, we can provide off-site treatment also.
